Not many years ago

A belly full they'd grow

As long as they were able

They planned for the table

Blood and sweat they poured

They worked and made a home

With help from nature's mother

They fed this country's cities and it's towns

But in long slow surrender

With profits getting slender

The family farm now often can be found

Beneath what some call progress

They lived a straight line

But they've been running out of time

In the ground

That dream will be gone

And it feels so d**ned wrong

In the ground

With help from nature's mother

They fed this country's cities and it's towns

We turn it over once more

And a casket we lower
