If carnations heal my heart

I'll collect the pollen

And grow flowers in

The furrow of your brow

I'll hoist you to my shoulders

The cool earth on your feet

A dream of childhood

Chance whispers in sweet breath

And angels breathing down your neck

My labor and my leisure

Decay can be soothing

False starts and maladies

They rest between my shoulders

A void pulling at the seams

Too silver for a stitch
