If I fall too far,

I doubt my spine would bear the weight.

The heather scolds me for being late,

Horizon tilting off its sphere, my pixelated vision shows me

Dark clouds overhead,

And monsters in my bed.

Treading water endlessly.

Currents pull me deep.

If I fall too far,

Will I still be here when I wake?

I’ve heard the lake is bottomless

If I could dive down deep enough will I emerge anonymous?

With voices I’ve not heard,

And thoughts that aren’t absurd.

Lady, lady who are you

now you know the truth?

If I fall too far,

Would I fall on sacred land?

When I try to stand

I’ll look up and where there’s always been an absence

there will be a hand

For me to hold with care

This cold hasn’t been fair.

Wind under my wings again,

Though this world remains.
