We left ensenienas it was almost dark

Wander cross the desert at night

Goin' home to Texas got a lot of miles ahead

There's a liquor store open on the right

Than the whole damn state of Tennessee

And as soon as I cross the Texas state line

Then I'll stop at the next grocery store

Or any little honkytonk bar

For some lonestar beer and some wolf brand chili

And a big old lebear cigar

Well it was still pitch black when we made Arizona

And already it's a hundred and two

We're listenin' to an all night trucker station

But Lord I think we must be gettin' closer

I can smell that west Texas wind
