Through everything

I was looking into every car

Hoping that someone

I knew I let it out too far

I watched it go

I couldn't get it all back

Slowed it down below a waltz

Where there was hardly

Any sway or grace left

It was so slow

You could see my faults

Down like a leaf

In the long grass

I lay for hours

The thief made off

There was a glow

Still under the ashes
