Walter Boeykens is a phenomenal clarinetist! I love all of this recordings, and this one is no exceptions. This clarinet music is actually very "odd" (you might say), but it's really worth listening to. I actually ordered it because I heard Sabine Meyer in concert and she did almost the exact program (she did Soldat, Contrasts, and 4 Pieces, by Berg). The music was a little difficult to take in just one hearing, but it had potential, so I got a recording, and after a couple listenings the songs are really nice. Boeyken's version of "Three Pieces" is really well done.
