Batmobile was founded in 1983. After several months of covering Elvis Presley, Johnny Burnette en Gene Vincent Jeroen Haamers (vocals/guitar), Johnny Zuidhof (drums) and Eric Haamers (double bass) decided to start to write their own material. The band is named after the Batmobile, the car driven by Batman. The name was suggested by Johnny Zuidhof who presented the idea for the name during band practice. In 1984 they recorded their first demo tape. This led to the release of the first self titled Batmobile album in 1985 and worldwide recognition over the 1980's.
