Album info:
Brief history of the number 13:
The number 13 has a number of very old references that tend to be associated with fear and darkness.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt was fearful of the number 13, and if he had a dinner at the white house and a guest made a last minute cancellation and it looked as if there might be 13 people there to dine, he would invite his secretary to join the other dinner guests so there wouldn't be 13..
Another example, at the Last Supper (Christian theology), there were 13 dinner guests and Christ was betrayed ….therefore people consider the number 13 to unlucky and evil.
The fear of the number 13 is so legendary that it even has a phobia named after it called “triskaidekaphobia” which explains why the Thump tower has no 13th floor, and why airlines typically do not have a 13th row….this all may seem crazy to some people, and some may think it is just a superstitious myth to fear this number, but in the end MANY people believe this number is bad ...and rock n roll was born around the idea of "Being Bad" and breaking the rules ....
Yet, 13 arrows also has a relationship to one of the two seals on the back of the US $1 bill. There are 13 leaves on the left olive branch with 13 berries, 13 arrows in the eagle’s right claw, 13 letters in the “E Pluribus Unum” on the ribbon and also 13 blocks top to bottom on the pyramid.
Free Mason’s Secret Society and the number 13:
The Mason’s square on their treasury seal has 13 stars. The numbers, 3, 7, 9, 11, 13, 33 and 39 all have special meanings to the Free Mason’s Illuminati. 13 people make up the Treasury and Department and the original number of the states in the United States of America was just 13.
Black Honey guitarist and singer Don McCann’s family tree also has a lot of history regarding the number 13 -- due to his family’s Free Mason history (two of his great uncles and his great grand father were/are Free Mason’s)
Overall, the theme of this record evokes the above myths but also has a general main theme of GREED (be of Money or Love).
Black Honey wanted to make a record that had references back to the golden era of rock music 1968-1974 but also injected a sense of originality and freshness. This isn’t some pop record, some cover album of old tunes or a record for anyone that believes in “Modern corporate rock music”…this is the real deal. Pretend you are back in 1972, in a rock n roll state of mind and about to drop the needle on your parent’s turntable ..introducing: BLACK HONEY - 13 ARROWS !!!
