What makes BNR different from most other bands? Ho Ho! Where to start!? The most prominent difference is the fact that a good portion of the songs on this album are 100% organic. While BNR is totally free of pesticides and herbicides, what we mean is that many of our songs are purely one-take, on-the-spot inspiration. Many of the ideas and movements you hear were not preconceived in any way. They were inspired by just being in the moment and letting things happen. That's where the magic is, yo!
Not all BNR songs come about this way. Several of the songs were written, rehearsed, recorded, overdubbed and edited. Standard procedure. But even on these tracks, you'll find a freshness and a liveliness...as if you're listening to a live performance. We do tend to favor a highly organic and spirited performance over a technically perfect one. We're totally fine leaving in missteps and blunders that other bands would never allow themselves to. We think it makes us sound more real, more human and more alive. Less perfect = more better.
Another thing that sets BNR far apart from the crowd is that we rotate instruments. All three of us love to play guitar, bass and drums - so we take turns. Of course, everyone approaches each instrument differently, making for a very unique listening experience. The more you listen to BNR music, the more you'll be able to tell that the same person who played drums on My Country is the same person who played drums on Flying High, for example. And yes, that was your first clue! Heh heh.
It's not hard to tell that we have a LOT of fun doing what we do. There's a lot of laughing and joking going on. It's not a comedy album by any means, but it will make you laugh! At least we sure hope so.
We hope you really enjoy this album. We hope you play it over and over. We feel there's a lot in here to uncover and discover and we really, really hope you enjoy doing just that.
And we simply cannot thank you enough for your support. You make us want to be a better band.
Love, BNR
