David Daniels has been making music for nearly twenty years. Finding comfort in the studio, Daniels is a multi-instrumentalist, playing keyboards, guitar, bass and percussion. Blending a variety of instruments, effects, synthesizers and twisted samples Daniels stitches together compositions based on the feeling and sound of the music and often uses a loop based soundscape approach to song writing.
David's most recent effort is "the reflecting pool" which is a seventy-minute musical journey; a passage in time that started in September 2001. Largely an introspective and instrumental project, this outing does features 3 vocal tracks. The project was primarily influenced by the world events of the past two years and a Middle Eastern worldly vibe can be heard throughout the recording. This is Daniels' first project since 1993's "Roses and Violets."
Daniels sometimes collaborates with MonkeyWorks reedman Steve Peckman, be sure to see their CDBaby listing or visit them at www.monkeyworksmusic.com Peckman is featured on track 9 of "the reflecting pool."
dd's influences include Miles Davis, Michael Brook, David Sylvian, Peter Gabriel, Robert Fripp, Brian Eno, King Crimson, Russell Mills, Steve Tibbets, Ralph Towner, Daniel Lanios, Weather Report and all good things that rattle and hum.
